6TH STEPHEN KESHI MEMORIAL LECTURE & FUND RAISING LAUNCH HOLDS NOVEMBER 13 2025

The 6th edition of the Stephen Keshi Annual lecture and Fund raising launch will hold on thursday 13 November 2025 in Obazuwa, the SKFVTC Project site, Behind Ekhewan Military Barrack, Benin Edo State.

In a statement released by the secretary of the board, Comrade Austin Popo, on behalf of the board chairman, Comrade Dr Louis Brown Ogbeifun, ” the 6th edition of the lecture is designed to incorporate a fund raising launch to commence infrastructural development of the SKFVTC as contained in the mixed development plan.

The secretary further revealed that the theme of the 6th edition of the lecture “Celebrating Stephen Keshi’s legacy: the power of football to change lives and pave the way for future African Football Greats” is aimed to honor Stephen Keshi’s contributions to African football while inspiring and empowering the next generation of leaders and players.

The SKFVTC land covering about 9.3 hectares was gifted to the SKFVTC Foundation by the late duke ( enogie) of Obazuwa in Ovia North East Local Government area in Edo State, Prince Edun Agharese Akenzua MFR FNGE, a former Footbaler, to immortalize the memory and legacies of late Stephen Keshi, a great sports icon and legend, former captain and coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles, and as well serve as a most veritable platform for the discovery and development of young talented athletes across Africa.

The SKFVTC is established to create a vibrant, multi-functional community hub that integrates world-class sporting, recreational, public, educational, vocational, and residential facilities, blending professional-grade sports infrastructure, family-friendly entertainment, and community-driven amenities to foster athletic excellence, economic growth, and social cohesion. thus promoting sports, education, health, and economic opportunities for all ages.

The secretary explained further that the SKFVTC shall Provide affordable housing and vocational training to empower local communities, Integrate family-friendly entertainment and retail to create a destination for sports tourism and leisure.
